Free Download: Amerigo Gazaway (of Gummy Soul) – Who We Are (2011)

What do protest and music have in common? Expression, and the power thereof. What started as a localized movement inspired by the Arab Spring uprisings, the idea behind Occupy Wall Street has spread to more than 1000 cities in 82 countries, with more people each day inspired to take part in seizing the global stage and raising their voices for change. You know what they say. If you’re not in, you’re out. Which begs the question: are you the one percent, or the ninety-nine?

Among the voices is Amerigo Gazaway, whose Fela Soul album last September was simply sublime. This time, he releases the song “Who We Are”, a track that articulates the individual spirit of freedom and the people’s desire for socioeconomic revolution. The music video itself has some powerful images from what has been transpiring around the world. It’s hard to believe we’ve come this far in two months..but not impossible.

The world is harmonizing. Are you listening?
