Free MP3: Modill – What I Gotta Say

Back in 2009 we did an introducing piece on Modill, but personally I lost track of them ever since. But not because the music is bad – it’s the opposite of that. A few days back we got in touch with RacecaR, one half of Modill, and he catched up with us about these outtakes and c-sides. The word ‘c-sides’ makes it sound like a collection of crappy leftovers, but that’s definitely not the case.

‘Outtakes & C-Sides’ consists of nine good tracks by the Chicago based duo, just like the song ‘What I Gotta Say’ below.

RacecaR also told us what he’s been up to, so check out his plans for 2011 at the end of this post. Buy ‘Outtakes & C-Sides’ here or download the song ‘What I Gotta Say’ off the compilation for free below.

RacecaR (Modill): “I’m currently in France, of all places, restarting my career. Being new to the scene has been difficult, but not strange to me coming from Chicago and dealing with the diversity of the indie scene there for over two decades now. Unfortunately my French is sub-par, but I look to change that soon (maybe a French hip hop song?).

I’ve been writing a huge number of verses for a ‘borrowed song’ series of promos I plan on releasing sometime this year. I’ve already got a few collabs under my belt with Debilorithmicos and with a gentleman by the name of Vin’s. Those releases should be out before the end of the summer. Back home, BlackCollar should finally be releasing our freshman project which has been in the works for a few years and counting. Besides that I have a dubstep project with a producer by the name of Levi G set to drop sometime before summer.”
