Vinyl: Adagio! – The Obvious Archives Pt.1 12″ EP

The latest gem uncovered by hip hop reissue label Heavy Jewelz is from the archives of a little known NYC duo known as Adagio! (pronounced “A-dee-gee-o” and an acronym for A Definition of Ambition, Goals, Interest and Organization!). Emcee Reign Supreme and producer Big Cuz’n both attended university with Breeze Brewin’ of the Juggaknots, and through him they ended up linking with Bobbito Garcia of the legendary underground “Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Radio Show” on WKCR 89.9 FM.

Over the years Adagio! recorded over 100 tracks from the mid 90s to early 00s and released a string of 12″s. If you think you’ve never heard their music before, you may have actually heard them on the Clear Blue Skies rerelease of The Juggaknots debut album, where they were featured on the previously unreleased track “Who Makes It Hot”.

Now in 2014, Reign Supreme and Big Cuz’n now both work as teachers and their unreleased material has been unlocked by the good people at Heavy Jewelz for the reissue treatment.
