Contest: Win Naturetone’s ‘Turnings Of The Sun’ on CD

Hailing from Bern, Naturetone contributed to the Swiss hip hop scene in the early 1990s as a founding member of ecologist hip hop crew 3TP. After a 15-year studio hiatus, Naturetone returned in 2010 with Nihon, an atmospheric instrumental hip hop album which pays tribute to Japan.

Now he’s back again with a new album entitled “Turnings Of The Sun” on the World Around label. The Orient is again a source of inspiration for his abstract sophomore album. He weaves melodies, sounds and beats into an intricate texture that becomes much more than a piece of music; it’s a sonic experience.

Journalist Peter Schong about the album: “Naturetone takes hip hop not just to the next level, but a whole new world. ‘Turnings of the Sun’ is ignoring conventions and instead opting for atmosphere and discovery. (…) It feels like a stroll down an Asian market, burstling with life and activity and tickling the senses with flavors, odours, sounds and colours.”
