Because the release of their album is coming up, this week we selected a brand new track by Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins. On February 16th (digital release) and February 23rd (physical release), their collaborative album ‘SomeOthaShip’ hits the shelves.

Info

After the same titled EP, the anticipated full length album ‘SomeOthaShip’ by Georgia and Declaime (aka Dudley Perkins) drops this year. This is what the press release has to say about their effort: One part hip-hop, one part funk, and all themselves, SomeOthaShip features Georgia & Declaime at their finest – Declaime’s unorthodox, winding rhyme patterns and Georgia’s free-form vocals and own rhymes mesh fluidly, creating an album that, once again, proves to push boundaries, challenge listeners, and, most importantly, please eardrums.

Features
The album includes productions by artists as Black Milk, Oddisee, Oh No and Flying Lotus, along with features from Big Pooh (Little Brother), Kool G Rap, and more.

Music

To give you a taste of the album, we selected the funky Get Up (GoGo Remix) to share with you. It’s a remix by Oddisee and features Prince Po. Stream a snippet of the track below and tune in to Laid Back Radio if you want to hear it in its entirely:

Extra

Mello Music Group is one of the labels we eagerly follow. This time it’s the Georgia and Dudley collaboration we focus on, but there’s way more good music put out by the label. Here’s a small selection of music MMG has to offer. I’ve added links so you can dig for music you want or you don’t know yet.

I was really surprised when I heard Sareem Poems’ album ‘Black & Read All Over‘ last year. With features of Stro The 89th Key (formerly of The Procussions), Ohmega Watts, LMNO, Pigeon John and much more, this album blew me away.

I think Oddisee doesn’t need an introduction. His free downloadable seasonal Odd series, Diamond District, the album Mental Liberation and countless guest appearances: all things you might know him of. Personally I love the project Ave. To (Interview) he’s involved in. The Foot In The Dooralbum he did with Jazzy Jeff and his participation on Hudson Mohawke‘s and Mike Slott’s efforts under the name of Heralds Of Change are recommended as well.

Definitely check out Kenn Starr’s albumStarr Status‘. Kenn is a member of the Low Budget Crew among DC residents Kev Brown, Critically Acclaimed and Cy Young. Soon he will release a double EP called Two Track Mind‘, produced by Black Milk and with remixes by M-Phazes, Kev Brown, Mr. Porter and more. And if you want some free goodness, download his “unmixed non-tape” It’s Still Real‘, released last year.
