Mix: Old’s Cool – The Finest Materials 12

Mix: Old’s Cool – The Finest Materials 12

Mixing vinyl since the age of 16, Old’s Cool (29, Cologne, Germany) is dedicated to old classics, putting them together with contemporary flavors. He loves different kind of genres—ranging from 60s soul to 70s funk and a bit of latin/reggae—but has always been focused on 90s hip hop, with an addiction for smooth sounds.

Commissioned by DJ/curator PolyesterVelcro (Johannesburg, South Africa), Old’s Cool has came up with a short yet deliciously chill mix consisting of instrumental hip hop, jazz influences & overall smoothness, for Velcro’s The Finest Materials mix series. As always for Old’s Cool: mixing solely with vinyl records.

The mix includes material by the likes of Pete Rock, DJ Day, Will Sessions, Stay Classy & Birocratic. And to me, “Good to Me” by Floppy Circus and “Jazzy” by Emapea are finds worth saving.

With track titles such as Summer Breeze, Ukulele & Chill & Lemon Tea, you know what to do: kick back and relax…
