1. Tupac – Trapped
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCEmTaWSPTk&version=3&hl=nl_NL]

This song is about police brutality and the rebellious nature it breeds in those affected most by it. Tupac talks about the feeling of being stuck in ghetto circumstances and on the fast track to the penitentiary…the ultimate trap. He also talks about giving the police, who have been killing his people, and impeding upon his civil liberties, a taste of their own medicine. As deserving as the officer may be, the system will ultimately place Tupac behind bars for shooting.

Being antagonized daily by authorities to the point where you snap and defend yourself is the definition of the trap the government has set for young black and brown men. Prison seems to be all too welcoming to us. It’s a club that consistently needs new members to remain profitable. The cops are the boosters… Fuck jail. Looking at Tupac’s life (years in Oakland) you can see the looming police presence that ultimately led to his untimely passing. Stay free people.
