If someone asks me to name some lyrical talents, RA Scion is the one who comes in mind first. Together with producer Sabzi, he’s Common Market: the Seattle-based duo who released several albums and EP’s since 2005. It’s arguable if you like Blue Scholars (Geologic + Sabzi) or Common Market more, but there’s one thing we don’t have to argue about: RA Scion is good. Very good.

Delays are a very frustrating part of running a record label (and being an artist). Sometimes delays can make me feel like I’m doing a really shitty job as the Owner of Uncommon Records, but they are part of life.
Ninja Tune blessed us with this promo for The Heavy’s new single ‘No Time’. Definitely check it out, we like it a lot. The extra (soulful) track ‘In Time’ is very good as well. You like it? Check out their album Great Vengeance and Furious Fire (2007) or stay tuned for their upcoming album ‘The House That Dirt Built’.
Brand new video by Thaione Davis of his track ‘Commentary’, taken from his upcoming 2010-release ‘Goodenough’. Description of the video: “The summation of all things conidered. Commentary is the closing track on the upcoming album ‘Goodenough’, which signifies Thaione’s stance on holding his ground. Stand firm. Stand strong. Big beat feel with abrasive delivery….signature Davis.”
Some of the selections are challenging, and that’s a large part of why I like them. They don’t pander to the audience, they aren’t watered down with the populace in mind. They’re designed to challenge the both the listeners mind and heart; this is music to help you grow, live and learn.
