Virginian emcee Awon is back at it with a slightly different feel, as he is working with the producer Phoniks out of Portland. Phoniks has made a name for himself making beats reminiscent of the golden age in hip hop with layered horns, sharp drums and the jazzy feel of 90s hip hop.
Awon continues to impress as he crafts dope rhymes and flows beautifully over the boom bap production from Phoniks. This is the perfect nostalgia type of album if you’re in the mood for some of that old school New York styled hip hop, while it’s a bit different from what you would usually hear.
