Lasko is heavily influenced on the jazz hop sound and the whole tape is very inspired by Common’s sound à la the 90s. Chicago clearly still has soul from the sounds of this release.
Some time ago we introduced you to emerging Chicago based Producer Lasko and his stand out track Pardon. He didn’t take the post lightly and speed forward with his second project, the soulful Chicago mix tape titled Jazzis.
The title pretty much says it all. Lasko is heavily influenced on the jazz hop sound and the whole tape is very inspired by Common’s sound à la the 90s. You even hear some samples that evoke memories of that period.
Speaking about emcees, this tape doesn’t lack in that department. A special treat is the underground wordsmiths assembled for the project. All the emcees and vocalists on this project really shine.
This mixtape features verses from upcoming Chicago local emcees Monster Mike, Frank Leone, Kolby Woods, and Vince Mici. The track titled “Laws” is co-produced with South Carolina producer The Klepto. Also appearing are Kash Draco, Cam Cross and Lu Hound.
Chicago clearly still has soul by the sounds of this release.
