This new guest mix by Düsseldorf native SchmitzCutz is pure bliss for the current hot summer days – or holidays if you’re lucky. Do we really need to explain why with legends like Donald Byrd and Ahmad Jamal in the tracklist? Even if you’re strictly hip hop you’ll most likely enjoy it, as it contains a lot of material sampled in golden tracks like “The World Is Yours.”
“The inspiration to do this mix came while I was diggin’ sample material for my homie IAMNOBODI. After collecting tracks by the likes of Bernard Lubat & Herve’ Roy, 100% Whole Wheat, Wlodek Gulgowski and Guido & Maurizio De Angelo, I thought that it would give a nice set if I mix ’em up with some tunes that have already been flipped. So I added the Nas sample from Ahmad Jamal, the Gang Starr sample from Monk Higgins and the Biggie sample from Sylvia Striplin.
I love all kinds of music as long as it touches my soul. My DJ sets include hip hop, downbeat, r&b, soul, funk, jazz, house and future bass elements. I always try to play unknown stuff and educate my listeners, even if it’s hard nowadays to gain more listeners that way.” – SchmitzCutz
