José James is a name I assume most of you already know. While his debut ‘The Dreamer’ was steady on repeat for some time, his most recent sophomore release ‘Blackmagic’ got all the attention it deserved. And good news for the fan: a new record is coming!
José James is a name I assume most of you already know. While his debut ‘The Dreamer‘ was steady on repeat for some time, his most recent sophomore release ‘Blackmagic‘ got all the attention it deserved. And good news for the fans: a new record is coming!
On May 11th, José James will release ‘For All We Know’, a new full length album together with Belgian pianist Jef Neve. All songs are recorded in a six-hour session, without a producer, retakes or overdubs. It was only José’s soulful voice, Jef’s piano and the silence. “This record is all about capturing the moment”, says José about the album. ‘For All We Know’ contains an assortiment of variations of jazz and pop standards. ‘Tenderly’ by Walter Gross, Coleman Hawkins’ ‘Body and Soul’, Billy Strayhorn’s ‘Lush Life’ and George and Ira Gershwin’s ‘Embraceable You’ are examples of songs on the upcoming record.
To give you a taste of the album, we are sharing the track ‘Gee Baby, Ain’t I Good For You’ with you. Originally written by Andy Razaf and Don Redman, later performed by Nat King Cole Trio and now José James and Jef Neve put their lights on it.
