Stream: DJ Iron – Classic Recipes Vol. 1

It’s almost safe to say that this release sums up the essence of The Find in fifteen tracks. Alright, that’s an overstatement, but this first edition of “Classic Recipes” by Belgian DJ/producer DJ Iron is incredibly dope. Nothing but boom bap vibes, banging drums, jazz and funk influences, cuts, odes to hip hop legends and personal reinterpretations of classics. Exactly what we love.

Only the tracklist itself is enough to make your mouth water: fourteen remixes of classic material by the likes of Artifacts, Kool G Rap, Biz Markie, Camp Lo, Public Enemy, The Beatnuts and Bahamadia. DJ Iron and his comrades (like DJ Grazzhoppa and D-Purpose) reworked the originals with respect, so it almost feels like listening to a remix project from the mid-90s. They skillfully used classic recipes to freshly serve a new dish for every hungry hip hop head.

“Classic Recipes Vol. 1” is available as a free download, but better be quick to avoid Bandcamp’s annoying download limit. DJ Iron is also going to press a limited run of promo copies on wax. First come, first served.
