Stream: Ta-Ku – 50 Days For Dilla

Fifty days ago Australian producer Reggie “Ta-Ku” Matthews has started his 50 Days project to pay hommage to J Dilla, one of his biggest influences. Today marks the fiftieth day, meaning that his collection of instrumental tracks is finally complete.

[UPDATE] Now a few months later, the first 25 beats are finally available for digital purchase with a vinyl record coming soon through the great people at Huh What & Where Recordings. Purchase that fly ish now! Dilla forever.

Within just three years of operation in his chosen field, Ta-Ku has evolved from a self-taught student of music into a scholar of progressive beat production, cultivating a sound displayed through labels such as HW&W, Project Mooncircle and Brownswood.

As an astute observer of the melodic elements of soul music and the percussive elements of hip hop, Ta-Ku takes influence from pioneering beatsmiths such as 9th Wonder, DJ Premier and J Dilla. Stream Ta-Ku’s fifty beats for Dilla below in its entirety.
