The Find Premiere: DJ Optimus – Pound For Pound ft. Prince Po of Organized Konfusion (DJ Grazzhoppa Remix)

“Pound For Pound” features ruthless rhymes by Prince Po of legendary hip hop duo Organized Konfusion. DJ Grazzhoppa gives the original an unexpected twist by adding ferocious electronic drums, melodic switches and a firm touch of that good ol’ boom bap.

We’re stoked to premiere this remix to kick-off “Reprogram,” a remix project by Dutch indie label Fremdtunes. “Pound For Pound” features ruthless rhymes by Prince Po of legendary hip hop duo Organized Konfusion. DJ Grazzhoppa gives the hard-hitting original an unexpected twist by adding ferocious electronic drums, melodic switches and a firm touch of that good ol’ boom bap.

The “Reprogram” project is a sequence of remixes consisting of sixteen tracks from the Fremdtunes roster. The tracks are remixed by affiliated producers and DJs of the label, released in a string of free downloads with sixteen complimentary artworks by Amsterdam-based typographic designer Mister Adam (of Mashville), the man behind most of Fremdtunes’ covers and graphic design.

The original track by DJ Optimus appeared on his album Double Helix DNAOptimus is active as a DJ/producer since the mid-nineties, working with artists like El Da Sensei (of Artifacts), The Proov, Toots Thielemans, Aka Moon, amongst others. DJ Grazzhoppa became European DMC Champion in 1991, Belgian I.T.F. Champion and third in the I.T.F. World Championships in 1998, and he has been touring the globe with Grazzhoppa’s DJ Big Band.

The full album will be available via Bandcamp on November 23rd. Expect reworks by the likes of Coco Bryce, Emufucka, Moods, Jay Hats, Pierce Warnecke, Big Mister Doom, and many more.
