Damu The Fudgemunk’s “20 Favorite Sample Flips” Mix Sees Vinyl Release (+ Free Download)
Back in 2014, Damu The Fudgemunk created an all-vinyl mix for Ego Trip Magazine’s “Top 10 Sample Flips” series. Ten wasn’t enough (well, that doesn’t come as a surprise if you ask a seasoned digger like Damu), so the outcome was twice as nice: a top 20 of his favorite sample flips.
Today a vinyl release has been announced. The LP is available via REDEF, or cop it via the good folks at HHV if you’re based in Europe. HHV will ship it next Friday as “early bird”, meaning you get it a month before everybody else in Europe.
A tracklist hasn’t been provided, but the mix consists of classic hip hop songs (including tracks by the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Eric B & Rakim, Craig G, Redman, Stereo MCs & Above The Law) mixed along with the original material that was sampled to construct the beats, ranging from James Brown to Ronnie Laws, and from Skull Snaps to Gil Scott-Heron.
Listen to the mix below or download it for free. Oh, and can somebody please do some hip hop magic to bring back the now-defunct Ego Trip? Some of the best to ever do it…
“This is music that I cherish and enjoy. I take pride in having these records in my collection. Please do your research and dig deeper into the catalogs of each artists to keep their music alive. Much respect to the talent and efforts of all the people who were a part of these songs. Thank you for listening.” – Damu The Fudgemunk
