A triptych is a piece of artwork that appears in separated into three sections. Most well known are painted triptychs; three panels hinged together that can be viewed closed, much like a shuttered window, or displayed open, exposing the resplendent artistry within. Wax Triptych is a trio of producers who have taken the concept of a triptych and applied it to music making with their new album A Tale Of 3 Heads.
One of the most renowned triptych artists of centuries past is Hieronymus Bosch, a dutch painter from the 1400s who created complex and fantastical religious scenes with an eerie surreal psychedelic ambiance. Nearly 600 years after Bosch, Wax Triptych carry on his legacy in an entirely new medium.
The group is comprised of Jenova 7 (USA), Mr. Moods (Canada), and Mononome (Greece), who joined forces for a dusty exercise in downtempo abstract hip hop instrumentals. If you could jump into a Hieronymus Bosch painting and explore the dreamlike landscape, this music would be the soundtrack. Check it out for an otherworldly voyage through dark trip hop beats guided by the mythical three-headed leviathan, the Wax Triptych.
