Marcus D is no stranger to The Find. Our last post was just a few months ago: his Winter Breaks EP with emcee Substantial (together they form the group Bop Alloy). This Seattle native is currently based in Tokyo, Japan and is always keeping busy holding a position as one of the premiere jazz hop producers in the game right now.
Billed as a sequel to his critically acclaimed 2012 release, Melancholy Hopeful, he returns with the confidence laden title Lone Wolf. With this confidence we also see a producer clearly honing his skill. The title tracks “Awakening” graces us with a fantastic flute playing along the top that gives the album the big sound it needs to carry us through the rest of the tracks. The album continues consistently, never straying far from its roots. The guest verses from heavyweights such as Blu and Substantial and a host of other emcees is peppered throughout. The lone wolf will easily hunt its way into your ears, but never stray too far from the pack.
