UK record junkie Kieran Lockyear has recently initiated the “Straight From The Play Box” mix series, a brilliant showcase of the global 45 DJ scene. The concept is simple, selectors drop 10 of their favourite 45s in a short set of soulful funky goodness.

To date nearly 80 DJs from Australia, USA, Japan, Germany, Spain, Romania, Norway, and beyond have contributed to this ongoing documentation of the vibrant world of rare soul singles. Most of the featured DJs can be found in their homelands spinning at monthly/weekly events dedicated to soul and funk, so be sure to browse the whole series for countless musical gems as well as a gateway to a realm of soulful nightlife.
