Pick Of The Week #29: Lucid Music

Their sound is inspired by hip hop the members grew up on. The lyrics are positive and profanity free allowing the group to perform for audiences of all ages. Jazz, rock and funk samples are used to create what can only be described as ‘that old boom bap’: uptempo drums, thick basslines, melodic horns and piano. Turntablism also plays an important part in Lucid Music’s live shows.

Last week we featured Finnish producer Juhani, but this week our Pick Of The Week is a hip hop group from the USA. Lucid Music hails from Pittsburgh and released its fourth album Adventures Of The Invisible Bandlast year.

Turntablism also plays an important part of Lucid’s live shows.

For our Pick Of The Week on Laid Back Radio we’ve selected the track ‘Showtime’ off the aforementioned studio album. The song appeared on the soundtrack of the independent film American Macho Buddha.
