Stream: Couch Brothers (Maikal X & Kazu) – Time

Kazu, a Japanese producer traveling the globe for the last ten years, met Maikal X in 2005 while passing through the Netherlands. Inspired by different music styles through gypsy travels, they started making music in a room that had a yellow couch in it. Ideas started flowing as soon as they would sit on the couch. This made them experiment with music styles while cooking Japanese and Caribbean dishes.

We already shared the news about the establishment of Couch Brothers back in early 2010, but the duo kind of disappeared in silence ever since. Now Japanese producer Kazu and former Postmen-member Maikal X are back with a new song, entitled ‘Time’.

Kazu, a Japanese gypsy traveling the globe for the last ten years, met emcee/singer Maikal X in 2005 while passing through the Netherlands. Inspired by different music styles through gypsy travels, they started making music in a room that had a yellow couch in it. Ideas started flowing as soon as they would sit on the couch. This made them experiment with music styles while cooking Japanese and Caribbean dishes.

Back on the yellow couch they found themselves completing an album, full of thought provoking life experiences. While traveling, they met other talented gypsies roaming the globe that wanted to chip in and contribute to the instinctive travels of the Couch Brothers.

It’s still unclear to us when the album ‘Electric Gypsy’ will be released, but here is a new track called ‘Time’. Another track, ‘All U Need’, can be found on Couch Brothers’ Soundcloud page.

Just an ordinary guy always on the hunt for extraordinary music. Not just as the founder of The Find Magazine & Rucksack Records, but also as a freelance music journalist (bylines at Tracklib, Bandcamp, Wax Poetics, DIG Mag, among others) and—above all—out of love for all kinds of good music.
